Why this beats your usual spot
You've done it. The restaurant where you talk over menus, the theater where you don't talk at all. If you're searching for date night ideas in Los Angeles that actually give you something to do together, here's the fix: make something.
A candle-making date night puts you side by side instead of across a table. You're picking scents for each other, laughing at each other's pours, trading opinions on whether that martini candle needs one more drop of color. Two hours of built-in conversation — and at the end, you both walk out with something you made, not just a receipt.
That's the whole idea behind our BYOB crafting experiences at Fragrance of Elegance, our family-owned candle studio on Crenshaw Blvd in Inglewood.
The short answer
Yes — it's one of the few date activities where you actually interact the whole time. You spend about two hours side by side choosing scents, comparing pours, and helping each other get it right, and you both leave with something handmade that outlasts the night. It works whether it's date one or year ten.
It also solves the classic LA problem: it's a plan. A real reservation, a set start time, a thing you did together — not another one of those we-will-figure-it-out-later nights.
The headliner
Sit down at the bar and build your drink in wax — the iced coffee, a cocktail on the rocks, or a custom-color martini. Real glass in one hand, your candle in the other. Bring your bottle. Bring your person.

More ways to do it
Blend a signature scent together, then take it three ways — a custom perfume, whipped body butter, and silky body oil. Walk out smelling like nobody else.
One table, two hours, your call — two candles each, soap and scrub, or the whole self-care kit. Low pressure, all yours to keep.
The slow date. Sundays the whole plaza is quiet on purpose — come in, grab a snack, and make candles, soaps, and scrubs at your own pace.
Your host is Coach Tangie — Chicago-born, Compton-raised, Inglewood-grown. FOE is family-owned and Black-owned, right here on Crenshaw Blvd, and every class comes with as much (or as little) help as you want.
The neighborhood
Every list of things to do near SoFi Stadium names the same handful of spots. Here's the local answer: we're right up Crenshaw — minutes from SoFi, the Intuit Dome, the Kia Forum, and the YouTube Theater — an easy stop before a show, after a game, or as the whole plan itself. Open late Fridays and Saturdays, when date night actually happens.
Make a full night of it: an afternoon class here, dinner in Inglewood, then the show. Or skip the crowds entirely — while everyone else circles the lot, you two are at the bar pouring a martini in wax.
Coming from South LA, Westchester, Hawthorne, or anywhere near LAX? We're closer than whatever you were about to drive across town for.

Pour & Sip, our BYOB candle bar, is $55 per person. Other date-friendly classes run $50–$100 per person, and every price includes all materials — everything you make goes home with you.
Yes. Bring your own bottle to Pour & Sip — wine, a cocktail kit, or something zero-proof. Guests drinking alcohol must be 21+.
Plan on about two hours. It's enough time to settle in, make your pieces, and still have the rest of your night.
None. Coach Tangie and the team walk you through every step, and help is there whenever you want it.
Everything. Your candles, soaps, scrubs, and scents all go home with you the same night.

One of the best in LA, honestly. You're side by side instead of face-to-face, there's a built-in activity when conversation lulls, and it caps at about two hours — long enough to connect, short enough to leave them wanting a second date.
Absolutely — the bar fits couples side by side, and for bigger nights you can book a private crafting experience and get the studio to yourselves.
Bring your bottle. Bring your person.
